McKesson's bid to take over Celesio called off

MCKESSON, a pharmaceutical distributor in the US, has failed in its bid to take over Celesio, parent company of Lloydspharmacy and wholesaler AAH. McKesson needed a pledge of 75 per cent of Celesio shares for the bid to be completed. But it fell short and so the ￡5.1bn deal has been called off. As a result Celesio will remain an independent company.
