GPhC plans freeze for pharmacists' registration fees

PHARMACISTS' professional registration fees look set to be frozen for the second year running. A recommendation on fees is due to go to the General Pharmaceutical Council's full council meeting on 6 February 2014. The GPhC is confident that it has enough in its reserves — expected to be ￡ 13.4m by March 2015 — to meet any deficit in its budget without the need to increase fees. But it is unable to reassure pharmacists that fees will be frozen again next year. That decision will rest on the outcome of an analysis of its future priorities for investment and the results of a review into the costs of its regulatory role.
