I was saddened to learn of the recent death of Shirley Anne Groves. The tribute in the The Pharmaceutical Journal of 19 July 2014 covers her career from November 1973 but Shirley had a professional life before then. She was a member of the talented team of young, mainly female pharmacists it was my privilege to lead at Nottingham City Hospital. They were a joy to work with and, though only part time, Shirley's contribution to that team was significant. When her husband's career move meant that she too had to leave Nottingham we lost a valued member of that team.
