The role of the media in the measles, mumps and rubella scandal is a well trod road, and Reem El-Sharkawi's Agenda article [PJ 2013; 290:737] outlines some of the problems that can occur with media reporting of health scares. It is suggested that pharmacists could be one of the solutions to this problem in the future. However, it is one of the ironies of the measles, mumps and rubella scandal in Wales that one of the leading proponents of the scare was a pharmacist, who was widely reported in the media (including the BBC).
