Prescribers not following statin guidelines

OVER half of patients prescribed statins for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) do not meet guideline criteria for the drugs, a new study shows. There is also considerable underuse of the drugs in eligible patients (PLOS One 26 July 2013).
