摘要

GPs will see an end to "tick box targets" in order to free more time for patients following the introduction of a new General Medical Services contract, announced last week and due to start in April 2014. The new contract replaces the controversial 2004 contract, which health secretary Jeremy Hunt has blamed for putting "huge pressure" on accident and emergency departments. The contract has been agreed between NHS Employers, on behalf of NHS England, and the General Practitioners Committee of the British Medical Association.
