THE first NHS national bowel cancer public awareness campaign in England will launch on 30 January with advertisements on television, radio and in other national media. It will run until the end of March. This forms part of Department of Health plans to tackle England's relatively poor cancer survival rates — it is estimated that 1,700 deaths from bowel cancer could be avoided every year if England's cancer survival rates matched the best in Europe.
