In response to Lindsey Gilpin's letter (PJ, 5 May 2012, p557) I would like to answer the question she raised and clarify a number of points. First, I decided not to stand for the industrial position because I had just started my new role as the first industrial pharmacist teaching practitioner in England (my role is split between King's College London and the industry). I thought that it would be inappropriate to stand for the industrial sector until this transitioning process had been completed so that I could contribute effectively on behalf of my colleagues within the industry.
