Pfizer has two high-earning products due to come off patent soon: Lipttor (atorvastatin) and Viagra (sildenafil), Lipitor has already lost exclusivity in the US (30 November 2011) and will do the same in the UK on 6 May 2012, in the US, the "composition of matter" patent for Viagra expires tn 2012 but the treatment of erectile dysfunction is protected by a further patent until 2019. The expiry date of other members of this patent family varies by jurisdiction. However, in the UK, France and Germany the patent expires in June 2013.
