PRESCRIBING support and medicines management emerged at the start of the 1990s as a new and important professional role in the primary healthcare landscape. Over the past 20 years, medicines management teams, working in primary care, have significantly expanded pharmacy's strategic influence and positive reputation across areas of NHS management, decision-making and policy in a way never previously possible. The whole profession has, therefore, benefited substantially from the expanding professional activities of this group of pharmacists.
