Being open about the price of medicines does help save money

I write regarding Jaimin Thakrar's letter (PJ, 26 February 2011, p226). I agree that being open about the price paid for pharmaceuticals can help reduce waste. In the 1980s, while working as a unit pharmacist for a group of hospitals in Edinburgh, I had my staff price a range of medicines, where the label on the medicine states the cost of the item.
