LOCAL professional networks (LPNs) will be the linchpin in the development of pharmacy services in England's new-look NHS, according to a commissioning model published last week. The new operating model for commissioning primary care services, developed by the NHS Commissioning Board Authority, sees the LPNs working with clinical commissioning groups to develop "innovative solutions" for medicines management, spread the healthy living pharmacy model and promote the use of pharmacies for health promotion.
