COMMUNITY Pharmacy Wales has written to the new Welsh Government asking for it to delay introduction of the carrier bag tax that is due to be imposed on retailers in Wales from 1 October 2011 (see Panel). CPW has received repeated requests from community pharmacies for clarification of the current position on the compulsory charge for single-use carrier bags - which it says is "effectively a tax on healthcare in Wales".
