Pharmacists and GPs pledge closer co-operation to improve patient care

RECOMMENDATIONS to improve patient care by having closer working relationships between community pharmacists and GPs have been listed in a joint statement released by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the Royal College of General Practitioners last week.The statement, "Breaking down the barriers - how community pharmacists and GPs can work together to improve patient care", has identified key "building blocks for change" (see Panel) and will form the basis of meetings between pharmacists and GPs to determine how the recommendations can be implemented.
