A pharmacist accused of molesting female members of staff at the pharmacy he managed has been suspended from the Register for 12 months by the Fitness-to-Practise Committee of the General Pharmaceutical Council. At its meeting on 18 November 2010, the committee met to conclude the case of Riaz Ahamed Abdul Sattar Omar (registration number 2036323). It had previously heard that, between mid 2006 and March 2008, Mr Omar had regularly assaulted a number of female staff by slapping their bottoms, putting his hands down their tunics, touching a woman's breasts, riding on their backs simulating sexual intercourse when they were on their knees in front of the pharmacy safe, and embracing them in an intimate manner. Five women were subjected to one or more of these acts, including a young student undertaking training at the pharmacy. Mr Omar was over 40 years of age at the time.
