Obesity plan focuses on local action

PHARMACIES have a key role to play in the Department of Health's latest obesity strategy, "Healthy lives, healthy people: a call to action on obesity in England", which focuses on action at a local level. The document calls on the whole of society to help halt and reverse the tide of obesity in the country, aiming for a sustained decrease by 2020 in the amount of excess weight carried by adults and children, but calls on local organisations to take the lead.
