Drug management of ischaemic stroke

A 74-YEAR-OLD man was admitted to the stroke ward yesterday with rapid onset left-sided weakness, dysphasia and slurred speech. On reviewing his drug chart you see that he received alteplase shordy after admission, but he is not currendy prescribed any regular medication. His blood pressure is 150/90mmHg, pulse is 70 beats Per minute and he is in sinus rhythm. The computed tomography scan on admission confirms an ischaemic stroke. Blood tests show that his hepatic and renal f unction are normal, and his urea, electrolytes, add blood glucose are within normal ranges.
