Serious dishonesty and drug addiction lead to striking-off order

A pharmacist who stole from her employer has had her name removed from the Register of Pharmacists by order of the Disciplinary Committee. The case of Joanne Clare Murphy, of Piercestown, Co Wexford, Ireland.,was heard by the Committee on 12 August 2009. Since Miss Murphy was neither present at that hearing nor represented, the committee adjourned its decision until 18 September 2009 to give her an opportunity to advance whatever representations she wished before sanction was handed down. This she did by way of an e-mail to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. However, she did not appear at the second hearing.
