摘要

Most pharmacists in Britain probably do not give urban planning a second thought. Yet with the rapid urbanisation of world populations, it is likely to be a key determinant of health in the future. If pushed, pharmacists might think urban planning and public health could be linked — in terms of the more traditional ideas of a clean water supply and the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases rather than in terms of the contemporary understanding of public health in the UK of prevention of obesity and no-smoking policies. That view is only part of the story.
