Over the past 10 years Scotland has seen a lot of change in pharmacy. Successive Scottish governments have recognised that the profession had a wealth of talent that had been underused. Making better use of pharmacists became the cornerstone of the "right medicine" strategy. It created a debate about whether to shift from valuing pharmacists for the quantity of drugs they dispensed to valuing them for the quality of the pharmaceutical care they gave their patients.
