Drugs linked to dizziness in 23 per cent of cases

Drug side effects contribute to dizziness in nearly a quarter of older people visiting their GP with such symptoms, a study has shown (Annals of Family Medicine 2010;8:196).Over three years, the authors carried out a cross-sectional diagnostic study of 417 patients aged 65 to 95 years who had visited their GP for symptoms of persistent dizziness. After evaluation, the data from each patient were reviewed by a GP, a geriatricia'n and a nursing home doctor.
