Roll-out of summary care records given green light

Roll-out of the summary care record (SCR) programme looks set to continue, with a major publicity campaign informing patients they can opt out at any time. According to two Government-commissioned reviews, providing core patient information is valuable for clinicians when providing emergency care. The Department of Health announced this week that the SCR will now only contain a patient's demographic details, information about any medicines they are taking, allergies and adverse reactions.
