Recently, I had a prescription from a patient for 34 items, none of which was duplicated, all of which were apparendy needed. I thought: "How does this person cope, having to take all these tablets every day?"Then I thought of my own list of medicines in my ongoing case of skin disease: potent steroids for my skin, emollients to keep it supple, bath oils to soak in, shampoo for my scalp, salicylic acid to help the steroids, scalp applications to help the hairy bits, third-generation and first-generation antihistamines for the itch, and antifungals to protect the nails.
