Bringing science home: why expertise must be at the heart of the new body

The advent of the pharmacy's new professional body and the General Pharmaceutical Council presents a unique opportunity for the profession to look at itself and ask what it stands for. This simple question is rendered considerably more complex by the huge diversity of ways in which individuals contribute to the profession, ranging from direct patient-facing activities though to occupations that do not necessarily involve direct interaction with the public but nevertheless represent crucial inputs to our profession.
