Pharmaceutical sciences recognised within academic health science centre

The role of pharmaceutical sciences in improving patient care is recognised at the highest level within King's Health Partners, one of five accredited academic health science centres (AHSCs) in the UK (see Panel).The centre - which is a partnership between King's College London and three NHS foundation trusts (Guy's and St Thomas', King's College Hospital and South London and Maudsley) - has set up a series of operational units called clinical academic groups (CAGs), which enable it to ensure learning from research is used quickly, consistently and systematically to improve clinical services.
