Let's hear it for the MUR

Medicines use reviews continue to cause dissent within pharmacy — and within other health professions. Do they bring patients any benefit or are they just a money spinner for pharmacies? They were introduced in England and Wales over five years ago when the (then) new community pharmacy contract came into being. They were designed to give pharmacists more of a clinical dimension to their work, to steer them away from routine dispensing activities, and to ensure patients benefited most from their medicines by taking them properly and not wasting them if they were not required.
