MUR fraud exercise on hold

An NHS counter fraud exercise that requires pharmacists to submit copies of all medicines use review forms completed in June 2009 to their primary care trust has been put on hold, pending legal advice.The exercise raised patient confidentiality concerns from the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, in light of the fact that the NHS counter fraud and security management service (CFSMS) will only request a sample of forms, leaving the remaining copies with PCTs (PJ, 24 October 2009, p435).
