Exemption rules that allow pharmacies to trade in small amounts of medicines are not fully compatible with EU law and in future all pharmacy traders could require a wholesale dealer's licence. So says the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency in the latest consultation to strengthen the medicines' supply chain.The MHRA says that the exemption under Section 10(7) of the Medicines Act 1968 is incompatible with EU legislation that requires anyone undertaking any wholesale dealing activities to hold a wholesale dealer's licence.
