Draft principles for harmonising on- call payments out for consultation

Draft principles for harmonisation of on-call payments have been put out for consultation by the NHS Staff Council. The current protection for on-call payments ends on 31 March 2011. The consultation confirms that it has not been possible to reach a national agreement covering on-call payments for pharmacists and other NHS staff following a two-year review of arrangements. Instead, the principles will provide a framework for local negotiations between staff representatives and management (known as local partnerships).
