Care by pharmacists as good as by GPs, suggests study

Care provided by pharmacists to older people living in the community can bring equal or better clinical outcomes than care provided by GPs or nurses, according to results from a literature review published in the latest issue of Australia and New Zealand Health Policy (2009;6:23). Patients were more likely to stick to their medication when managed by a pharmacist than their GP or a nurse, the academics from Australia and the UK's National Primary Care Research and Development Centre at the University of Manchester found.
