I endorse the comments made by Fuad Ahmed(PJ,31 January 2009,pl07).Prescribing is one aspect of patient care where it is possible to do considerable harm.Junior doctors are faced with an increasingly challenging task:a growing number of new medicines and complex therapeutic regimens;polypharmacy in the ageing populetiorr;and,finally,targets and pressure to treat and discharge as quickly as possible a higher number of hospital patients.
