The role and responsibilities of the pharmacy technician have evolved in the 22 years I have been in the profession to such an extent that newly qualified technicians can expect a diverse and forward looking career path. This means that technicians need to continue to develop their skills and knowledge but there are many resources available to help them along the way. For example, newly qualified technicians within Colchester Hospital University Foundation Trust are expected to undertake the regional technician development scheme, developed and administered by London Pharmacy Education and Training (LPE&T).
