I agree with the sentiments expressed by David Phillipson (PJ, 28 March 2009, p336) and Peter Houghton (ibid, p338), and I believe that the deep feelings of these writers deserve further consideration. Many years ago, the demise of pharmacognosy was prophesised, but owing to the efforts of these two writers and others, the subject has adapted and prospered over the years, albeit with few professionally qualified practitioners.
