The new body must offer benefits to scientists

I resigned from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in December 2004 after 44 years on the Register.The reason was that,as a pharmaceutical scientist consultant,I could not honestly ignore the broad definition of practising now in Article 3(2)of the draft Pharmacy Order:"a person practises or undertakes work as a pharmacist...(if)that person does any work or gives any advice in relation to the preparation,assembly,dispensing,sale,supply or use of medicines,the science of medicines."Clearly,consulting to the industry would contravene that definition and I could not retire from the Register and continue working in biopharmaceutics.My wife chose the option of retiring since she does not provide such advice.
