Romiplostim launched for chronic bleeding disorder

(Nplate), indicated for the long-term treatment of patients with the bleeding disorder chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura has been launched by Amgen. Romiplostim is licensed for splenec-tomised patients who are refractory to other treatments. It can also be used as second-line treatment for non-splenectomised patients where surgery is contraindicated.
