Januvia for type 2 diabetes given go ahead for use in NHS Scotland

Sitagliptin(Januvia)for patients with type 2 diabetes is one of four drugs that have been accepted for use within NHS Scodand.A further five drugs were rejected in the latest round of appraisals by the Scottish Medicines Consortium.The SMC's recommendation applies to the use of sitagliptin in combination with a sulphonylurea,with or without metformin,and not to its use in combination with thia-zolidinediones.
