WORLD EXPORT SALES FOR 2002/03: STEADY ADVANCE

World export commitments for 2002/03 rose by an estimated 450,000 tons between mid-August and mid-September and reached 2.7 million tons or 43% of projected exports. The pace of sales was 50,000 tons per month more than during the preceding two months. The USA, Australia and Francophone Africa made the largest sales during the past month. World sales for 2002/03, as of mid-September were almost equal to 2001/02 sales made a year ago and 270,000 tons larger compared with the same time in 2000/01.
