Adult medicine formulations,such as tablets,often cannot be given directly to children and special formulations need to be manufactured.Up to 90 per cent of babies and children in hospital receive an unlicensed or off-label medicine and one in 10 prescriptions for children seen in primary care is for an unlicensed or off-label medicine.
