Government's 48-hour target not being met for all GP appointments

Some 13 per cent of patients in England are still waiting longer than the Government's 48-hour target to see a GP, according to a survey published last week by the Healthcare Commission. But the number managing to get an appointment within the two-day target has gone up slightly from 74 per cent in 2005 to 75 per cent in 2008, the results of the survey of 69,000 patients revealed.
