Pharmacy staff working for the NHS will receive a 2.5 per cent staged pay increase this year,with 1.5 per cent paid from 1 April and the balance from 1 November.The news was greeted 'with enthusiasm by the Guild of Healthcare PharmacistsHealth secretary Patricia Hewitt said last week:"These are sensible increases,fair for staff,consistent with the Government's inflation target and affordable for the NHS.We are therefore accepting the recommendations of the NHS pay review bodies,but have decided to stage the increase in line with the consistent approach across Government to the Workforce covered by the pay review bodies."
