Pharmacy organisations are calling for a higher profile for community pharmacy within the pandemic influenza national framework and its supporting documents.In their responses to the Department of Health's consultations on the national framework and separate guidance on health care provision in the community in England (PJ,24 March,p331),the National Pharmacy Association and the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee argue that the roles that community pharmacists will play during a pandemic should be determined nationally where possible and acknowledged in the framework.The PSNC warns that devolve-ment to a local level may cause problems with continuity,for example,where different services and methods of distribution for antivirals are used in adjacent primary care trusts.
