Today's issue of The Lancet was facilitated by 39 reviews from 33 peer reviewers in several disciplines. To assure that each research Article (red section) and each educational piece (green section) are of the highest standard and relevance to readers, the editors sought the wisdom of 2643 reviewers from 71 countries in 2011. At each week's meeting to discuss manuscripts, we are grateful to the valuable insights provided so generously by the journal's peer reviewers, many of whom have become trusted friends. Today we are pleased to share that thanks publicly and to publish our annual list of those who provided clinical or statistical reviews in 2011 (see appendix).
