On the road to the insulin centenary

World Diabetes Day, Nov 14, celebrates and raises awareness about diabetes on a global level. In the 90 years since the first person received insulin, this medical miracle has saved countless lives, but still fails to reach many in need because it simply is not available or affordable. This situation occurs not only for people in the world's poorest countries, but also, for example, the uninsured in the USA and people in Greece after the financial crisis.
