Salt intake in individuals with metabolic syndrome.

In The Lancet today, Jing Chen and colleagues (the GenSalt Collaborative Research Group) examine the association between metabolic syndrome and the salt sensitivity of blood pressure,The study was done in rural areas of northern China from October, 2003, to July, 2005. Because the researchers did not describe the general demography, prevalence of hypertension in the population, and number of hypertensive patients and family members in the selected community, we cannot judge whether there was selection bias and need to view the study as a selected cohort.
