Renate Schnabel and colleagues (Feb 28, p 739) describe the development of a risk score for predicting atrial fibrillation based on several clinical variables in a large cohort of patients from the Framingham study. Given the prevalence of this arrhythmia, and its serious consequences, this is a laudable attempt that could evolve into a useful technique.
