Editorial Comment: We need to become better at assessing results following reconstructive surgery. These authors introduce the HOPE score. This system assesses position and shape of the meatus, shape of the glans and skin, and torsion or curvature during erection, with numerical scores assigned in each category. The authors provide 68 photographs in the article to help guide scoring. This tool, which was tested with a panel of 13 pediatric urologists, demonstrated strong intra-observer consistency.
