摘要

Bladder cancer is disproportionately diagnosed in geriatric compared to younger patients. Although the gold standard treatment for organ confined, muscle invasive bladder cancer is radical cystectomy and urinary diversion, some elderly patients are simply too sick to undergo major surgery. Prevalence of comorbidities increases with advancing age, and these conditions may preclude surgical intervention in some older adults. Untreated bladder cancer can have other substantial complications, including hematuria, urinary frequency, dysuria and pelvic pain. Radiotherapy is a potential alternative treatment for patients deemed unsuitable for surgery.
