To the Editor: A shorter version of the American Urological Association (AUA) symptom score questionnaire would be welcomed by a lot of urologists who would like to use some kind of symptom classification score but find the present questionnaire, although not long, still too bothersome for pressing and busy everyday clinical practice with decreasing time for patient-physician encounters. Such a questionnaire not only should be useful for managing benign prostatic hyperplasia, but also should help in evaluating as much lower urinary tract dysfunction as possible. One of the important lower urinary tract dysfunction issues is nocturia. Evaluation and treatment of nocturia has evolved significantly in recent years and, with its own chapter in the new Campbell-Walsh Urology, it seems nocturia has become an independent disease entity.
