A Single Stage Process for Scouring and Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics

The paper describes a process (Single stage Scouring and Dyeing or SSD) that can be carried out in cotton fabric, wherein, without any pre-treatment, the grey cotton textile material is soaked in the aqueous solution of the dye containing a low concentration (0.05% - 0.2%) of non-ionic surfactant, and thereafter the usual procedure of dyeing is followed. The efficiency of this simple eco-friendly process is evident by the increased dye-ability and colour-fastness properties of the cotton textile.
