Stainless Steel/Stainless revival limited to Europe

Signs of recovery in the stainless steel market vary significantly by region. Europe is by far the most buoyant area and this is highlighted by the fact that the positive sentiment seen at the end of last year is still very much in evidence. The US market, by contrast, is weaker as end-use demand remains lacklustre and the mills continue to face pressure to curtail output. Similarly the Asian market is also subdued and, although spot prices in some countries have firmed in recent weeks, dull demand and production restraint remain the dominant themes in the region as a whole.
